Video: Alfredo, Herbst Trigger 12-Car Wreck Exiting Frontstretch Chicane

Riley Herbst and Sheldon Creed, two drivers still in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, have sustained major damage following an accident at the exit of the fronstretch chicane at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.

The incident began with a side-by-side battle for position between Herbst and Anthony Alfredo, where the two drivers came together exiting the second part of the chicane.

Herbst, driving the No. 98 Monster Energy Ford Mustang Dark Horse, then got turned in front of the pack, causing a massive chain reaction incident behind them, collecting at least 12 cars.

Preston Pardus, Brad Perez, Brennan Poole, Sheldon Creed, Dylan Lupton, Sage Karam, Ed Jones, Parker Retzlaff, Ryan Sieg, Josh Williams, Anthony Alfredo, and Riley Herbst all sustained some kind of damage in the incident.

Williams (No. 11), Jones (No. 26), and Poole (No. 44) had damage too severe to return to the racetrack on Saturday, and will face an early exit from Saturday’s Drive for The Cure 250 at the Charlotte ROVAL.

Herbst and Creed were able to return to pit road and repair a significant portion of the damage to their respective entries and will attempt to remain on track to get the best finish possible.
