It was only a matter of time before this happened with the way they were racing.

Running in the middle of the pack, the accident happened when the field ahead stacked up, causing Ricky Senhouse Jr to get into the back of Martin Truex Jr and sending the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry back into the pack, where he collected William Byron, Landon Cassill, Tyler Reddick, Chase Briscoe, Daniel Suarez and others.

The accident has significant playoff implications, as Tyler Reddick was battling with teammate Austin Dillon for the 16th and final spot in the series’  post-season. With the significant damage to his No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro, Reddick lost a significant portion of the points cushion he had coming into the event. At the same time, Daniel Suarez and Chase Briscoe were also looking to win to secure themselves in the playoffs.

William Byron and Landon Cassill were unable to continue in the event, while Daniel Suarez, Tyler Reddick, Chase Briscoe and the others involved in the accident were able to continue.

To get an idea of how hard the impact from Truex to Byron was, here is a shot of Byron’s car being towed into the garage:
