Carl Long will make his first start of the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season as he will drive one of MBM Motorsports’ entries in next weekend’s Top Draft 250 at Martinsville Speedway.

Long, 53, who has made 127-career NXS starts, will be looking to have a good time as a chance to run one of his cars finally came to be.

“When the 2020 season started, I looked at the schedule to see what races I could drive and have some fun without taking anything away from my other teams,” said Long in a team release. “Martinsville was one of the premier races in Late Model Stock early on in my career. I look forward to going back there and talking trash to my other drivers, Timmy Hill and Chad Finchum with my old, fat self! The whole organization in having fun with me wanting to go out there and showing those guys up! We are still looking for some sponsorship for my car and if any local businesses want to hop on board we can make a tremendous deal for them.”

Long, a long-time underdog racer, has never scored a top-20 finish in NXS competition, but his MBM Motorsports team has been very competitive this year, which will afford him his best opportunity yet at a good finish.

Timmy Hill scored the team’s best finish ever in the season-opening event at Daytona with a third-place effort. Hill has also scored two additional top-15 finishes this season and Chad Finchum has also snagged a top-15 finish in 2020.
