AJ Allmendinger Claims Third Career Pole in Xfinity Series Qualifying at Indy’s Road Course

AJ Allmendinger and Kaulig Racing have snagged the pole position for Saturday’s Pennzoil 150 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course, posting a blistering lap time of 89.831 seconds to gap the field by over three tenths of a second. The pole position is the third of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, and the third pole position for Kaulig Racing.

NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader and road course ace, Austin Cindric posted the second-best lap time of the series’ second round of qualifying, although 0.327 seconds behind polesitter, Allmendinger. Indiana-native Justin Haley was third, with Justin Allgaier in fourth and Ty Gibbs – the fastest driver in the series’ first round of qualifying — rounding out the top-five.

Riley Herbst, Noah Gragson, Myatt Snider, Will Rodgers, Preston Pardus, Harrison Burton, and Brandon Jones rounded out the 12 drivers that advanced to the series’ second round of qualifying on Saturday Morning.

Other notables include: Daniel Hemric (13th), Kevin Harvick (16th), Sage Karam (18th), Austin Dillon (19th), Jeb Burton (23rd), Sam Mayer (24th), Chase Elliott – subbing for Michael Annett — (25th), James Davison – subbing for Kyle Tilley — (34th), and JJ Yeley – subbing for Max Papis — (36th).

Ryan Eversley (No. 6), Stephen Leicht (No. 13), Mike Skeen (No. 15), Loris Hezemans (No. 33), Giorgio Romero Maggi (No. 42), Gray Gaulding (No. 52), Matt Jaskol (No. 66), and Bayley Currey (No. 74) failed to qualify for Saturday’s event, the second-to-last event with qualifying this season, the last of which will be the season-finale at Phoenix.
