Video: Alex Bowman, Denny Hamlin Get Together Racing for Martinsville Victory, Hamlin Spins in Turn Four

If you’ve been on social media or watched the end of the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway, there’s a good chance you’ve seen what happened, and what happened aftewards.

Racing for the lead and victory in the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series season on Sunday, Alex Bowman and Denny Hamlin were locked into an incredible and intense side-by-side battle for the victory for about 10 to 15 laps.

However, that came to a screaming halt when Alex Bowman’s No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro got into the side of Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry and sent the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff driver spinning in turn four, which was met with an eruption of cheers from the grandstands in Martinsville, Virginia.

Hamlin, who at the time of the spin held a 31-point advantage on the cutline to advance to the ‘Championship 4’, quickly saw his buffer drop to below 10 points, which put the Joe Gibbs Racing team in jeopardy of being eliminated from the playoffs should anything else have gone wrong.
