CONCORD, N.C. — The skies looked like everyone’s eyes at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon. Persistent rain led to the cancellation of early afternoon on-track activity at the 1.5-mile speedway, which means there will be no practice or qualifying ahead of Friday evening’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200.

While nobody ever wants the weather to impact a racing weekend, the parallel of the weather on Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the internal feelings of everyone in the NASCAR industry, a day removed from the tragic passing of Kyle Busch, was staggering.

Starting Lineup: NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200

Fittingly, due to the cancellation of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying, Corey Day, who is piloting the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet that Busch was originally scheduled to compete in on Friday night, will start from the pole position, as the field was set by the NASCAR Performance Metric.

Busch won last weekend’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway from the pole position, which led to the P1 start for the No. 7 Spire Motorsports team in the event.

Layne Riggs, the driver of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford F-150, will start alongside Day from the outside of the front row.

Kaden Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, Brandon Jones, Leland Honeyman, Christian Eckes, Chandler Smith, Jake Garcia, and Corey LaJoie will round out the top-10 starters in Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With 37 trucks on the entry list for Friday night’s race, and only 36 starting positions available, one truck failed to make the show. Caleb Costner, driver of the No. 93 Costner Motorsports Chevrolet, will not compete due to owner points.

In order to try to get ahead of the potential weather threats throughout the evening, NASCAR has moved the green flag of Friday night’s race, which was originally scheduled to happen at 7:52 PM ET, up 22 minutes to 7:30 PM ET. The race will be televised on FS1.
