Special Patriotic Dow Chemicals Scheme for Austin Dillon at Michigan

WELCOME, NC (June 5, 2019) — In a show of appreciation for the contributions of veterans serving in the United States Armed Forces, and the knowledge and attributes they add to the workforce, Dow and Richard Childress Racing will honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans through a special, patriotic-themed No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway on June 9. The car proudly bears the names of more than 1400 veteran employees, contractors and family members.

The No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was unveiled at the Richard Childress Racing Events Center in front of a crowd of approximately 900 U.S. Military veterans, including 30 World War II Veterans, on the eve of the 75th Anniversary of D-Day.

“The No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet has become a staple program among our Veterans network at Dow,” said Jane Palmieri, Business President of Dow Polyurethanes and CAV. “Showcasing names on the car through the RCR partnership is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and thank Dow Veterans.”

2019 marks the fifth year that Dow and RCR have partnered to honor the sacrifices of our veterans and their families. The program began with approximately 350 veterans honored on the hood of the No. 3 Chevrolet in 2015 and has grown year-after-year. The initiative is coordinated in partnership with Dow’s Veterans Employee Resource Group, VetNet, to show appreciation and highlight the skillsets, knowledge, and attributes that veterans add to the workforce.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to preserve, promote and acknowledge the virtues of military service,” said Torrey Galida, President of Richard Childress Racing and a U.S. Navy Veteran. “There isn’t a fanbase in all of sports that appreciates the military as much as NASCAR does.”

The Dow Salutes Veterans activation falls within the NASCAR Salutes platform, an industry-wide effort devoted to saluting the men and women who have served this country with recognition events occurring on and between Memorial Day and Independence Day weekends.

The paint scheme design for this year’s Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet is inspired by the scheme that Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Chevrolet team sported for the 1996 NASCAR All-Star race with driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr., which honored the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic Games held in 1996 in Atlanta.

“I get to race on the weekends and enjoy doing what I love to do because of the many sacrifices our U.S. military members have made for this country,” said Austin Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet. “It’s really special that these veterans and current military members get to become a part of the race. Many of the people I have formed relationships with at Dow have served and will be on the car with me this weekend.”

Dow employees and the public will have the opportunity to see the No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in Midland, Michigan, for the Drone & Robotics Festival on Saturday, June 8 as part of MATRIX: MIDLAND. Watch the No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet on track at Michigan International Speedway live on FOX Sports 1 at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 9.
