After a report from The Athletic on Thursday stated that Dodge could potentially be ready to make a return to the NASCAR Cup Series as soon as 2027, many began to speculate that RFK Racing would join Kaulig Racing under the Dodge umbrella. On Thursday evening, Brad Keselowski, co-owner of RFK Racing and driver of the team’s No. 6 Ford, shut down those rumors in a post on X.
“For those asking- RFK racing has multi year agreement with @fordracing and a commitment from their leadership to return the program to a championship contender,” Keselowski wrote. “Any speculation else-wise makes for great internet talk but, it is not based on anything real.”

So, what caused everyone to think RFK Racing would be making the switch to Dodge? Well, likely a few perfectly aligned details led to the unfounded rumors.
In the report from The Athletic, Jordan Bianchi stated that Dodge had found a solution to where it would source engines for a potential NASCAR Cup Series program in 2027, which led everyone to assume Roush Yates Engines would be that solution.
Additionally, on June 23, Hagerty released an automotive news story, which detailed that Roush Performance was teaming up with Ram Trucks and would be unveiling a jointly designed Ram Truck in the summer of 2026.
Roush is teaming up with Ram ?
Roush, which is best-known for its Ford-based builds, announced plans to unveil a truck designed jointly with Ram in the summer of 2026.
As of now, the finer design details are shrouded in secrecy. What do you hope to see from this…

And to add one final layer of the fictional puzzle pieces lining up, Keselowski won his NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2012, driving a Dodge for Team Penske, and he fielded a NASCAR Truck Series team with the manufacturer as well, and his father was a Dodge truck guy in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series prior to that.
However, as it turns out, there was very little actual substance to any of these coincidences as RFK Racing remains committed to Ford Racing for the foreseeable future. That being said, what is the solution that Dodge has found for its engine supplier situation that has made competing in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2027 possible?
There aren’t a lot of engine suppliers in the NASCAR Cup Series, currently.
