Nick Sanchez Scores Third Career Pole with Stellar Lap at Nashville

Despite a light-out performance at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this year, where he led an insane 168 of 172 laps, Nick Sanchez and Rev Racing are still looking for their first victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Looking for the same dominance, but with a different ending, Sanchez put down a strong lap in Friday’s single-truck qualifying session at Nashville Superspeedway, scoring him his third pole position of the season.

Posting a lap of 29.571 seconds (161.915mph), Sanchez was able to place his No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado on the pole by just over a tenth of a second, beating out Bayley Currey, who returns to the No. 41 for Niece Motorsports.

Currey, making his fourth start of the year for Niece Motorsports, picked up a career-best start for Friday’s 200-mile contest, beating out a previous best of eighth place earned earlier this season at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Much like Currey, Rajah Caruth picked up a career-best start in the No. 24 for GMS Racing, and will start Friday’s event from the inside of the second row. Corey Heim and Tanner Gray completed the top-five in qualifying.

Grant Enfinger posted the sixth-quickest time in qualifying, while Carson Hocevar, Zane Smith, Daniel Dye, and Taylor Gray will round out the first five rows of Friday’s starting grid.

Making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut, Jake Drew posted a lap good enough for a 24th-place starting spot, after posting a top-10 time in Friday’s 20-minute practice session.

With 37 trucks entered in Friday’s 13th event of the season at Nashville, Trey Hutchens, driving his self-owned No. 14 Chevrolet Silverado, was the sole driver who failed to qualify for the event, which will run on Friday night.
