Well, after all of the bad luck Jimmie Johnson has had over the last few seasons with black race cars, the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion has decided to change things up.

With four races remaining until the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, Johnson will switch to a white No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro. Johnson confirmed the news with a video on Twitter that posted on Thursday. In the post, Johnson dubs the scheme his rAlly scheme.

The move to a white scheme was heavily rumored over the last few days. Speculation began when Hendrick Motorsports had a blank car shown as the paint scheme for Johnson at the Daytona Road Course. Then a redditor on r/NASCAR posted that an inside source had told them Johnson would be changing to a white paint scheme for the remainder of the season.

Turns out, it the white scheme is indeed a thing.

For now, Hendrick Motorsports is calling this Johnson’s scheme for the Go Bowling 235, but there seems to be a legitimate chance that this will be the look of the No. 48 for the remainder of 2020.

Johnson sits outside the Playoff cutoff, as he is 26-points behind his Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron. If Johnson can find a way to overcome the deficit or win a race between now and the Playoffs, he will lock up a berth in his final season.
