It is the debut weekend for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The first on-track action for the trucks was a wet 45-minute practice session, which was led by Zane Smith on Friday morning.

The No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford F-150 logged the quickest lap of 87.605 sec. (92.789 mph), around the 2.258-mile permanent road course. Ben Rhodes put a time down of 87.735 sec. to place second after going for an early spin at the start of the session.

At the wheel of he No. 75 Henderson Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, Parker Kligerman posted the third best lap and sat 0.149 sec. behind Smith’s time. Scored in fourth was Grant Enfinger, who brought out the second caution of the session with suspected transmission issues.

Due to the issues suffered in practice, GMS Racing will inspect if Enfinger’s transmission needs to be replaced before qualifying. Hattori Racing’s Tyler Ankrum, one driver that always seems to find pace on a road course, slotted fifth fastest in the session.

Matt DiBenedetto concluded the session sixth with John Hunter Nemechek, Ty Majeski, Christian Eckes and Connor Mosack rounded out the top-10. Zane Smith was the only representative of Ford in the first 10 spots as Toyota had five and Chevrolet placed four.

There were plenty of spins that took place in the practice, due to the rainy conditions and the mere fact that the vast majority of the field has not competed at Mid-Ohio in the past. On top of Rhodes’ spin, Tanner Gray, Chandler Smith and Stewart Friesen all went around on the track.

The caution flag was displayed shortly after the session began for Mason Filippi, driving the No. 46 G2G Racing Toyota Racing, who had an engine expire and left fluid on the course.

At the end of the session, Stephen Mallozzi, driving the No. 43 Reaume Brothers Racing entry, crashed his truck as well.

Here are the full practice times and speeds for the session:
