Hailie Deegan was able to walk away from a severe impact into the Turn 3 wall at Gateway after contact from Nick Sanchez on lap 87.

Hailie Deegan walked away from a severely hard crash in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Toyota 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

On Lap 87, Deegan was running just outside the top-10, when she received contact from behind from Rev Racing’s rookie of the year contender Nick Sanchez. The contact sent Deegan’s truck out of control into Turn 3.

Her No. 13 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150 turned sideways, and plowed into the outside wall with the passenger side of the truck. The truck actually lifted off the ground, which gives you an idea of how hard the hit was.

Here is a video of the insanely hard impact:

And here is a video of Deegan exiting the truck, as well as additional replays of the crash:

After being evaluated and released from the infield care center, Deegan talked about the accident, where she says she simply got, “shipped,” by Nick Sanchez after Tanner Gray slowed ahead of her.

“We were on a stretch and it worked out. We were on older tires, got track position, and I feel like we showed that all day — just getting track position. We finally had it. We were holding them off pretty decently,” Deegan explained. “I think we were still in the Top 10. Three-wide in the middle, and the No. 15 cleared himself up, kind of ruined all three of our runs. The No. 2 came in, hit me once, hit me again, and shipped me off. It destroyed our truck. Ended our day. I don’t know. It is what it is. Can’t change it. We’re trying to do our part and just got shipped.”

Due to the crash, Deegan, who was looking to be heading toward a top-15 finish or better, will be credited with a 32nd-place finish in the 35-truck field.
