As Kaulig Racing continues to piece together its rotating cast of characters, who will make up the full season schedule behind the wheel of the No. 25 Free Agent Ram Truck this season, the team has announced that two NASCAR legends will return to competition in upcoming events.

Clint Bowyer, a 10-time race winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, and Jamie McMurray, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series race-winning driver, will each get behind the wheel of the truck for a race.

Bowyer will compete in the event at Dover Motor Speedway on May 15, while McMurray will be in the field for the inaugural race at the Naval Base Coronado street course in San Diego on June 19.

The drivers announced their respective returns during NASCAR On FOX’s race broadcast ahead of Sunday’s Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Bowyer has a tough task ahead of him as Dover is not an easy track to just jump in and drive after time away from the NASCAR National Series, but the tenacious racer says he’s ready for the challenge.

“I’m pumped to get back in a truck, especially one with Ram power behind it,” Bowyer said. “Dover is a beast — concrete, tight and unforgiving — and I plan to put this No. 25 Ram Free Agent truck right up front where it belongs.”

McMurray, who was always an underrated talent on road courses, is excited to be in such a historic event.

“Racing on a naval base in San Diego for the very first time is going to be an incredible experience,” said McMurray, who co-won the 2015 Rolex 24 sports car race on the Daytona road course. “Street courses reward precision and adaptability, and I’m looking forward to teaming with Kaulig and Ram to make some history in that No. 25 truck.”

Adding a couple of veteran racers to a free agent lineup that has already included three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart is exactly what Ram Trucks had in mind when it created the Free Agent Driver Program.

“Bringing in veterans like Clint and Jamie adds another level of excitement, which is why we created the Free Agent Program,” Kuniskis said. “Their experience and success help showcase Ram’s unique approach to America’s motorsport while allowing fans to watch a couple of their favorite drivers get behind the wheel of a Ram 1500 with Kaulig Racing.”

In addition to Bowyer, McMurray, and Stewart, the No. 25 Free Agent Truck has previously announced starts for Ty Dillon, Parker Kligerman, Corey LaJoie, Colin Braun, and Carson Ferguson.
