While the competition in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series continues to slowly close in on Richard Childress Racing’s overall speed at Talladega Superspeedway, the organization continues to assert its dominance. On Friday afternoon, Jesse Love was able to wheel the No. 2 RCR Chevrolet to the team’s eighth consecutive pole position at the 2.66-mile track in Alabama.
The eighth consecutive pole extended a streak that began in the spring of 2022 for RCR.
Starting Lineup: NOAPS Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega
In the final round of Friday’s qualifying session for Saturday’s Ag-Pro 300, Love cranked out a 52.525-second lap time, which equated to a 182.313 mph average. Love was able to circuit around the superspeedway 0.042 seconds faster than Sam Mayer, who will start alongside Love on the front row on Saturday afternoon.
Corey Day was able to secure the third position in qualifying, driving the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
Perhaps the surprise of the session was Josh Williams and the DGM Racing team in general. Williams nailed down the fourth position in the qualifying session, driving the No. 92 DGM Racing Chevrolet. Mason Maggio, Williams’ DGM Racing teammate, would make it a clean sweep of top-10 starting spots for the organization, as he secured the 10th starting spot.
Sheldon Creed clocked in fifth-fastest, while Austin Hill, Love’s RCR teammate, will start sixth.
Rajah Caruth, Carson Kvapil, who flipped in last week’s race at Kansas Speedway, Anthony Alfredo, and Maggio capped off the top-10 qualifiers for Saturday’s Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega.
