Ty Majeski had one of the fastest trucks in the field of Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but the finishing result was not indicative of that.

Majeski qualified his No. 98 Soda Sense ThorSport Racing Ford in 10th place, but quickly rose into the top five, placing fourth in Stage 1. Majeski did one spot better in the second segment of the race, climbing an additional spot to third after briefly flirting with the race lead.

At the end of Stage 2, however, Majeski exited the pit road with the rest of the leaders when contact from Kaden Honeycutt’s No. 45 Niece Motorsports truck left him with damage to his left front fender. Majeski had to give up all of his track position to come back down pit road and get the damage repaired, leaving him at the tail end of the lead lap to begin the final stage.

“Yeah, looked like the 34 [Layne Riggs] didn’t know we were out there two-wide”. Majeski said post-race. “Ruined our night. A solid top three or four truck, at parts of the run we were the best truck, probably not great on the long run but probably was gonna be a good effort for us today”.

Despite restarting deep in the field, Majeski was able to maneuver his way up the running order to salvage an 11th-place finish and was able to keep the points gap between himself and Corey Heim close.

“Thankfully we got that yellow to kinda reset the field and got back up to 11th, I just burned it up too hard getting there, so overall a solid recovery, [I] wish we could’ve raced it out with those guys, I think we might’ve had something”, Majeski stated.

With the recovery to 11th place, Majeski still left Homestead with 41 points on the night, the fourth most of any driver in the field, thanks to the top five results in each of the race’s two stages. Despite losing the points lead to Corey Heim with the No. 11 finishing third and sweeping both stages, Majeski’s drive back through the field limited the damage done and kept him in contention for the regular season championship.

Majeski will only have to wait one week to try and win his first race on the season, as the Truck Series heads to Martinsville Speedway on Friday, March 28 for the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200. The race will be broadcast by FS1, MRN, and Sirius XM Radio.
