Video: Austin Hill Gets Turned From the Lead Late at Talladega

Despite his incredible track record on superspeedways in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Austin Hill has struggled to find results at Talladega Superspeedway — a storyline that will likely continue beyond Saturday’s Ag-Pro 300.

Hill, driving the No. 21 for Richard Childress Racing, was leading the outside lane ahead of alliance teammate Parker Kligerman, when the two made contact entering the third corner, turning the Bennett Transportation Chevrolet in front of the pack.

For a moment, it looked as though Hill would save his racecar, getting some help from Anthony Alfredo to straighten him out, but then carnage broke out behind him, collecting several others.

Kyle Weatherman, Taylor Gray, Jeb Burton, Anthony Alfredo, David Starr, Jordan Anderson, and Patrick Emerling each sustained significant damage in the incident, as did a couple of other vehicles, all of which are likely able to continue — except Patrick Emerling and Jordan Anderson.

The accident sent the race into NASCAR Overtime — which will take from a two-lap dash to the checkered flag.
