RCR Pairs Danny Stockman With Jesse Love For 2024 Xfinity Season

A day after Richard Childress Racing announced the addition of Jesse Love to its NASCAR Xfinity Series roster, the organization announced the crew chief that will call the shots for the driver of the No. 2 Whelen Engineering Chevrolet Camaro.

Danny Stockman, a NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship-winning crew chief will sit atop the pit box for the 18-year-old racer in 2024.

“Richard Childress Racing just feels like home to me so I can’t wait to cross the railroad tracks in Welcome, N.C. and race for wins and championships with a talented group of racers,” said Stockman. “Jesse Love is a bright young talent and it’s an honor to be able to work with him as he makes the next step in his career in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. I am grateful to Richard Childress for this opportunity and excited to go for wins and championships for Whelen Engineering.”

Stockman was a long-time Richard Childress Racing crew chief, who departed for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2020. The team is excited to have the veteran crew chief back.

“Danny Stockman will be a great addition to RCR’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program and we are looking forward to welcoming him back to our organization,” said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing in a team release. “Danny has proven that he is a talented crew chief, especially working with a young driver. He’s accomplished a lot in his career, including helping guide Austin Dillon to two championships. I know he will do a great job working with Jesse Love and representing Whelen Engineering.”

Stockman has been the crew chief for NASCAR Truck Series rookie Nick Sanchez this season. While the pairing has yet to win a race with one event left on the 2023 schedule, they have been near the front all season long, and Sanchez narrowly missed out on advancing to the Championship 4.

The crew chief scored the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship with driver Austin Dillon back in 2011, and the driver/crew chief pairing teamed for another championship run in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2013.

Stockman has been part of 20 NASCAR National Series wins in 397 starts over the course of his career as a crew chief.
