Corey LaJoie heads into his second season at Spire Motorsports as the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro and he’ll make his season debut with a familiar look as the black, white and green colors of NationsGuard will adorn his car at the Busch Light Clash at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

According to a press release from Spire Motorsports, NationsGuard will serve as primary sponsor for LaJoie as well as the team’s No. 77 entry in multiple events in 2022 in addition to being a major associate sponsor for the entire year.

LaJoie, 30, feels that despite the unknowns of the Next Gen car at the quarter-mile makeshift track at the iconic sports venue, he is at home as he is very well versed in short track racing.

“The Clash at the Coliseum is set to be one of the biggest events in NASCAR’s history,” said LaJoie. “With the debut of the NextGen car, there are so many unknowns going into this race car but that gives me a lot of confidence. I’m a short track guy at heart. I’ve won in the old K&N Series at Bowman Gray Stadium, so I can’t wait to get my elbows up at the L.A. Coliseum.”

Spire Motorsports is chomping at the bit to continue their relationship with a company that is tied to Hendrick Motorsports team owner Rick Hendrick.

“We’re eager to get the 2022 season started and pair NationsGuard with Corey LaJoie in the Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Coliseum,” commented Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “Mr. Hendrick and the NationsGuard team have supported our program from the drawing board to the race track so it’s gratifying to start the season with that collective support.”

LaJoie put together one of his best seasons of his young NASCAR Cup Series career in 2021. Despite missing a race due to COVID-19 protocols, LaJoie scored one top-10 finish (seventh in the season-opening Daytona 500) and went on to tie his career-best points ranking as he came home 29th in the final driver standings.

The Spire Motorsports driver will look to take the next step forward in his career in 2022.
