Bret Holmes, a former team owner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will return to the series for the first time in more than a year, competing in the Love’s RV Stops 225 at Talladega Superspeedway on October 17.

Holmes, a native of Munford, Alabama, will get behind the wheel of a top-tier entry at the 2.66-mile superspeedway in his home state, piloting the No. 1 ShopTRICON.com Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage.

The 28-year-old is a former champion of the ARCA Menards Series (2020), a championship that he earned while competing for his family-owned operation, Bret Holmes Racing. With that same team, Holmes earned a pair of top-five finishes in 56 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts — a third at Talladega (2022) and a fourth at Daytona (2024).

For Holmes, that career-best third-place result at Talladega Superspeedway in 2022 came with some controversy, as the No. 32 Golden Eagle Syrup Chevrolet was the first truck to cross the start-finish line as the field erupted into chaos behind. However, due to the timing of NASCAR throwing the caution, Matt DiBenedetto and Rackley WAR were awarded the victory.

Bret Holmes Racing ceased operations near the conclusion of the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign — selling all of its assets to zMAX CARS Tour team Hettinger Racing. Since the team purchased those assets, they have only competed in the final two races of last season (Brett Moffitt) and the 2025 season-opener at Daytona with Mason Maggio.

Next weekend’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs event at Talladega Superspeedway (October 17) will mark the first time since selling Bret Holmes Racing that Holmes has returned to competition.

Now, for the first time in his professional racing career, Holmes will have teammates to work with in a superspeedway setting — with Toni Breidinger (No. 5), Corey Heim (No. 11), Tanner Gray (No. 15), and Gio Ruggiero (No. 17) all a part of the TRICON Garage driver lineup for the event.

Holmes is the most recent addition to a multi-driver rotisserie lineup for the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro this season, a lineup that has included young-and-comer Brent Crews, NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie William Sawalich, Xfinity Series veteran Brandon Jones, 2011 DAYTONA 500 champion Trevor Bayne, and Lawless Alan.

The Love’s RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, the second of three events in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 17, at 4:00 PM ET. Coverage of the event will be on FOX, Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
