Martin Truex Jr. Leads Sole NASCAR Cup Series Practice from Indy’s Road Course

Martin Truex Jr. posted a blistering lap in the final seconds of the NASCAR Cup Series’ only practice session for Sunday’s Verizon 200 at Indianpolis Motor Speedway’s Road Course, besting the field by a half-second to post an 89.570 | 98.028mph. William Byron finished the session in second-place, after posting his lap in the final seconds of the session.

Denny Hamlin was third, Christopher Bell was fourth, and NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader Austin Cindric rounded out the top-five. Kyle Larson, Chase Briscoe, Matt DiBenedetto, Tyler Reddick and Joey Logano rounded out the top-10.

The session’s only full-course caution came with about five minutes remaining, when Bubba Wallace’s No. 23 Toyota Camry was stuck off the track with a flat tire. Wallace would finish the session in 29th.

Other notables included: Ryan Blaney (11th), Austin Dillon (12th), Michael McDowell (15th), AJ Allmendinger (16th), Kyle Busch (19th), Kevin Harvick (20th), Brad KeselowskI (21st), Alex Bowman (22nd), Chase Elliott (23rd), Aric Almirola (26th), Kurt Busch (28th), Ryan Newman (32nd) and Ricky Stenhouse Jr (33rd).
