A historic day for the NASCAR Cup Series will take place on Sunday, November 8th.
As the series will crown its champion for 2020, one of the greatest champions to ever grace the series with his skill, humbleness, and dedication will retire from full-time competition in Jimmie Johnson.
To mark the occasion, the Hendrick Motorsports Camaro’s of Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman will adorn yellow numbers as Johnson did for nearly every single start of his historic NASCAR career.

The organization performed a similar tribute to 4-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, who retired from full-time racing in 2015.
Elliott will look to honor Johnson in the most fitting way possible – by bringing home the Championship to Hendrick Motorsports.
The team has been absent from Championship 4 contention since 2016, when Johnson earned his record-tying seventh title.
It also marks the first time that a Chevrolet is in the Championship 4 since that same season.
Earlier this season, the Hendrick trio of Elliott, Byron, and Bowman honored the living legend at Darlington, where each driver drove a paint scheme that won a championship, or a marquee event in his career.
You can see Jimmie’s final full-time NASCAR Cup Series start this weekend when NASCAR visits Phoenix Raceway.
Coverage begins at 3pm EST on NBC, and the NBC Sports App.
