Video: Martin Truex Jr. Slams Into the Side of Chase Elliott Going For the Lead Late in Southern 500

It looked for sure like Chase Elliott, who was leading, or Martin Truex Jr., who had dominated the race winning Stages 1 and 2, were going to win the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.

However, with 14 laps left in the race, Truex got a run and attempted to get by Elliott for the lead and potential win. Then, Truex misjudged and thought he was clear. He wasn’t.

This incident ended both driver’s shot at a victory in the crown jewel event.
