Video: Martin Truex Jr. Black Flagged For Jumping the Initial Start of Richmond Race

screengrab from NBCSN race broadcast.

Horrendous start to the night for Playoff contender Martin Truex Jr. in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond Raceway. Truex was starting in second alongside his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin.

When the green flag was displayed, Hamlin and Truex got onto the gas. Unfortunately, for Truex, Hamlin — who was the control car — spun his tires. This made it where Truex beat Hamlin to the start line, which is a no-no on the initial start of the race.

NASCAR black flagged Truex. As a result, Truex has now been sent from second-place to 31st.
