Video: Kyle Busch Gets Dumped by Ross Chastain for Fifth Spot on Final Lap at Sonoma

Kyle Busch Ross Chastain last lap crash Sonoma Raceway 2024 video

The misery in 2024 continues for Kyle Busch and the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing team.

Busch was sitting fifth heading into the final lap of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Toyota / Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, but he was sent for a ride by Ross Chastain in Turn 4 as he was attempting to make it back around to score his first top-five finish in his last six races.

However, Chastain overcooked the corner, and plowed into Busch’s No. 8 machine, which sent Busch spinning out of fifth.

Here is a look at the incident from Chastain’s onboard camera:

And here is one more look of the incident from Chase Elliott’s onboard. Elliott was just behind Busch and Chastain as the incident transpired:

As Busch recovered, it looked like he would score an 11th-place finish, but as he was closing in on the finish, his car sputtered as it ran out of fuel. He would limp the No. 8 zone Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to a 12th-place finish as Corey LaJoie got around him before he could coast past the finish line.

  1. Can’t believe that no matter what, something seems to constantly happen to the # 8 Team, every weekend. Doesn’t matter Who, or What, just can’t get a break. I truly believe that He’s been handling it quite well. He’s going to catch a break, sooner or later.

  2. It’s amazing that no one ever gets in trouble for the things they do to Bush I think it’s a bunch of crap that you do that to a two time champion and I’m a Dale Earnhardt fan

  3. Busch hits more people than people hit him. Just a fact. Busch seriously deserves a dose of his own medicine

  4. Chastain need be suspended for race that was deliberate .. scar car is a joke wen it come to right or wrong. This was wrong.

  5. Bush is getting a taste of his own medicine from way back. what do they call it,,,,”payback is a bi#%h”
