Ty Dillon on Retirement Rumors: It’s Fake News

Well, if Ty Dillon truly has no plans to retire any time soon, I’m sure this has been an awkward week.

Apparently comments during a recent in-race radio communication between Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s race team indicated that Ty Dillon would be retiring following the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. It seemed like the team members perhaps had the insider news on something that hadn’t been reported.

This fueled the speculation that Dillon, 27, is ready to walk away from NASCAR.

Friday, Dillon shut down the rumors with an Instagram Story. In the video Dillon says that he is not retiring and plans to be racing for many, many years.

In the video, Dillon went on to say:

“Everybody is saying that I’m going to retire at the end of 2020, which couldn’t be more false. I plan on racing for many, many years. I don’t know where it came from, but to hear it from my mouth, I’m not retiring, and I plan on winning races and championships for many years.”

Dillon currently ranks 24th in the Cup Series championship standings, and he has a top-five and two top-10 finishes on his record. He also scored Stage wins at Bristol and Talladega in the spring.
