Brennan Poole, Racing with Heavy Heart, Joins Mike Harmon Racing for Auto Club

Brennan Poole will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Mike Harmon Racing at Auto Club, racing with a heavy heart after the sudden passing of his mother, Erin, earlier this month.

This weekend at Auto Club Speedway, Brennan Poole will look to make his first NASCAR Xfinity Series start since 2017, attempting to qualify for the Production Alliance Group 300 in the No. 47 Mike Harmon Racing Chevrolet Camaro.

Poole will look to get the start to the 2022 season turned around for MHR, whose two entries fell victim to a stacked field in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.

A representative from Mike Harmon Racing tells TobyChristie.com that the organization’s current plan is for Poole to continue with the team through the series’ ‘West Coast Swing’, which includes events at Las Vegas and Phoenix.

However, the 30-year-old will head to Fontana, California with a heavy heart, as Saturday will mark the first event in which Poole has competed, since the sudden passing of his mother, Erin, on February 9.

In her honor, Poole, attempting to make his 84th start in NASCAR’s second-tier series, will carry a decal on the namerail of his No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity [Mike Harmon Racing] has given me to get back on track this weekend at Auto Club Speedway,” Poole said in a team social media post. “I look forward to getting back behind the wheel and having my family at the track with me, after the unexpected passing of my mom.”

Since his full-time effort in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, Poole’s career has cooled down, partially due to an off-season injury and subsequent wrist surgery. Last season, Poole only competed in one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event for On Point Motorsports, finishing 14th at Texas.

On-track activity for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Auto Club Speedway will take place on Saturday, February 26, with practice at 12:00 ET, qualifying at 12:30 ET, and the Production Alliance Group 300 at 5:00 pm ET.
