Back in December, Brendan Gaughan announced on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that 2020 would be his final season in NASCAR Cup Series competition. Gaughan stressed that it was his lack of desire to drive the next generation of car that was the root cause of him to call it quits.
Now, a month later Gaughan, 44, has confirmed his 2020 NASCAR Cup Series schedule for Beard Motorsports.
The Las Vegas native, as he has done the last few years, will attempt to contest the four superspeedway races at Daytona and Talladega in the No. 62 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
At Talladega last spring, Gaughan scored an impressive eighth-place finish. He also took the lead for a brief moment at Talladega Superspeedway before he was sent flying through the air ending his day.
Through his career, Gaughan has 62 Cup Series starts with a best finish of fourth coming at Talladega back in 2004. Gaughan also has racked up two NASCAR Xfinity Series wins and eight NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series wins over the years.
