Andy Lally, a renowned road racing expert, will take over driving duties of the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Ford Mustang for this week’s NASCAR Cup Series Echo Park Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas.

Lally, 47, says the chance to drive the Next Gen car in a NASCAR Cup Series race was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“This is such a cool opportunity, I’ve been excited about the NextGen car and am always in touch with BJ and Matt,” Lally said in a Live Fast team release. “We had a great time working together last year so the moment there was possibility to climb back in the car and race with these guys again, I jumped at the chance. Having MF1 and MaintenenceSupply.com on board with us makes it a little more special as I’ve worked with both of these sponsors before. The car rendering looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it in person!”

MaintenanceSupplies.com, which offers premium brand name products, supplies and materials to support government and commercial purchasing needs, will serve as the primary sponsor for the effort.

For team co-owner and the driver of the car for the first five races of the season, McLeod says it was important to get a knowledgeable road ace behind the wheel at Circuit of the Americas.

“As a NASCAR Cup Series driver and long-time driving development coach, I know a talented racer when I see one,” said McLeod. “Andy Lally is one of them. He is an excellent road course driver who is profound in his practice. Our team is excited to have him represent Live Fast Motorsports at Circuit of the America’s track later this March.”

Lally, a native of Northport, New York, has competed in 39 races over his NASCAR Cup Series career with and has a best finish of 18th at Watkins Glen back in 2010.

The 2011 NASCAR Cup Series rookie of the year and three-time Grand-Am Sports Car Series champion has also scored four top-five and nine top-10 finishes in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition on road courses.
