NASCAR Drive for Diversity development driver Andrés Peréz de Lara has signed with David Gilliland Racing for three ARCA Menards Series races this season.

The 2020 NASCAR Trucks Series Mexico champion will compete in the No. 54 entry at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Las Vegas Bullring, and Phoenix Raceway.

“Making my ARCA Menards Series debut with a team like DGR is amazing, it has motivated me to work harder than ever in all aspects to get the best results in our races together,” said de Lara in a press release. “I am more than excited for the opportunity and ready for this big step in my racing career.”

Formerly in open-wheel racing, the now 17-year-old scored his first victory in the FIA F4 championship in 2019 at just the age of 14, becoming one of the youngest to do so.

Now, he moves over to stock cars, where he’s been seasoning himself in Mexico Trucks, as well as the NASCAR FedEx Challenge where he sits atop the point standings.

“Andrés has quickly progressed through a variety of different racing disciplines. His versatility is impressive, and we’re excited to see him translate his skills to the ARCA Menards Series.” said David Gilliland, co-owner of DGR.

The Mexico City, Mexico native will make his debut at Bristol on September 15th, 6:30p.m. ET on FS1.
