AM Racing will not field two NASCAR Xfinity Series entries in the 2024 season-opening United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway, as the team confirmed to TobyChristie.com on Wednesday that the No. 25 Ford Mustang will not make the trek to the beach.

A team representative explained that the No. 25 machine likely won’t be fielded until, “later in the spring.”

AM Racing announced before the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in September that it had the intention of running two NASCAR Xfinity Series teams during the 2024 season, a goal that will come to fruition when the No. 25 car makes its debut this season.

With the No. 25 team choosing to forgo the early portion of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign, AM Racing has shuffled the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series Owner Points from the No. 25 car to its No. 15 entry. The No. 25 team ranked 17th in NASCAR Xfinity Series owner points last season.

The owner point change will give Rookie of the Year contender Hailie Deegan some breathing room in qualifying for the season-opening event at Daytona. The young racer will compete full-time in the No. 15 Ford Mustang for AM Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season.

Last month, AM Racing confirmed that Joe Williams Jr. would return to the team and serve as Deegan’s crew chief in 2024.

Deegan, 22, finished 13th in her NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last fall driving the No. 07 Ford Mustang for SS Green Light Racing.

The Temecula, California native burst onto the stock car racing scene with three victories in ARCA Menards Series West (then NASCAR K&N Pro Series West) competition between 2018 and 2019.

In 2020, Deegan made the move to full-time ARCA Menards Series racing, where she racked up four top-five finishes and 17 top-10s with TRICON Garage (then David Gilliland Racing) in a season that resulted in a third-place championship ranking.

After the full-time ARCA season in 2020, Deegan moved to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, where she raced over the past three seasons. In three full-time seasons, Deegan scored five top-10 finishes and had a best points finish of 17th.
