The Drivers Edge Development program was put in place a season ago by JR Motorsports and GMS Racing. It is a development program meant to give young drivers in the Chevrolet racing pipeline the tools they need to showcase their skills in an effort to better themselves as race car drivers and take the next step in their careers.
On Thursday, the two race organizations announced the 2020 class of the Drivers Edge Development program.
Returning to the program for a second season are Sheldon Creed, who is GMS Racing’s No. 2 Truck Series driver, Noah Gragson, who drives the No. 9 for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Sam Mayer, who will compete in the Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series for GMS Racing this year, and Zane Smith, who will drive the No. 21 Truck for GMS Racing.
New to the program this season will be Tyler Ankrum and Connor Mosack.
Ankrum, who won rookie of the year in the Truck Series a season ago driving for DGR Crosley Racing, will move to GMS Racing’s No. 26 Truck for 2020.
Mosack will be featured in the JR Motorsports late model team.
