Spire Motorsports has partnered with Silver Hare Racing and Connor Zilisch to add three short track races to the 17-year-old’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign in 2024.
Zilisch, a highly-regarded development driver for NASCAR Cup Series team Trackhouse Racing, will pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado in events at Richmond (August 10), Bristol (September 19), and Martinsville (November 1).
A native of Mooresville, North Carolina, Zilisch joined Spire Motorsports earlier in the season for his NASCAR Truck Series debut at Circuit of The Americas, where he qualified on the pole, and battled many mid-race struggles to earn a fourth-place finish.
As part of that agreement, Zilisch signed up to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado at Talladega Superspeedway on October 4, while allowing Spire Motorsports to coordinate a separate entry for an additional start at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 27.
The up-and-coming phenom will contest five events in the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado, led by veteran crew chief Brian Pattie, with an additional event in an entry to be announced later.
Silver Hare Racing, the TransAm TA2 organization that Zilisch has brought to Victory Lane on six occasions, will serve as the primary sponsor of the entry at Richmond, Bristol, and Homestead, as well as an associate partner at Talladega and Martinsville.
The Austin Hatcher Foundation, originally scheduled to serve as a primary sponsor of the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, will serve in that capacity in the penultimate event of the season at Martinsville Speedway.
With the addition of three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events, Zilisch continues to ramp up an already ambitious schedule, competing in several different racing series, including the zMAX CARS Tour, ARCA Menards Series East, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, TransAm TA2 division, and NASCAR Xfinity Series, among others.
Later this year, Zilisch will debut in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports, running a four-race schedule in the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro, beginning at Watkins Glen International, the track he nearly won his ARCA Menards Series debut at, one season ago.
