Video: Tony Stewart Talks to SRX Broadcast Team While Racing During Green Flag

The Camping World SRX Racing Series has proven itself to be a unique, fun series for fans who appreciate legends of motorsport, and enjoy a professional broadcast with a laid back race format.

In Saturday’s SRX race at Eldora, things got a bit more casual on the race broadcast, as James Hinchcliffe dialed up Tony Stewart for an in-race chat. Yeah, not under caution, like you see in NASCAR. Under live green flag conditions at lap 20 of the 50 Main Event.

While this is nearly unprecedented, Tim Richmond did talk to ESPN for several laps under green in the 1986 NASCAR Cup Series First Union 400 at North Wilkesboro. The conversation started under caution and as the green flag came out, Richmond continued chatting with the on-air team.

Personally, I haven’t seen a driver do a live chat during a green flag run any time other than that.

Stewart, a three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, who is leading the SRX points, is surely qualified to do it if anyone is.
