Kris Wright has a full-time home for the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season he will move over to Niece Motorsports to pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado.

Wright, 27, who drove part-time in the Truck Series in 2021 for Young’s Motorsports as well as in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Sam Hunt Racing and JD Motorsports, says he picked up a good foundation last season and is ready to put what he learned to good use with Niece in 2022.

“I’m looking forward to joining this Niece Motorsports organization in 2022,” said Wright in a team release. “I learned a lot last year that I think will be beneficial next season. I’m appreciative of Al Niece for allowing me the opportunity to race and represent his organization. The team is working hard to prepare for 2022. I’m ready to get the season started.”

The Pennsylvania-native heads into next season with 17 NCWTS starts on his resume. Last year, Wright scored two top-15 finishes and four top-20s in 16 starts with Young’s in the No. 02 truck. Wright’s career-best finish to date was a 12th-place effort at the 2021 season opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

Wright will look to take another step forward in his NASCAR career in 2022 with what is undoubtedly his most competitive driving role yet.

The Wright announcement will complete the 2022 Niece Motorsports full-time driver lineup. In addition to Wright in the No. 44, Niece Motorsports will have Dean Thompson in the No. 40, Carson Hocevar in the No. 42 and Lawless Alan in the No. 45 truck.

The Niece Motorsports organization feels a certain buzz heading into 2022 with their new driver lineup.

“As a group we are really excited about the direction our organization is heading, going into the 2022 season,” said Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw. “Kris is an important piece of that puzzle, so we are happy to have him join the team. I think the four drivers we have set for the 2022 season will complement each other well and work well together. We have big expectations next season and we’re working hard to get there.”

Additionally, dirt racing star Tyler Carpenter secured a one-race deal with Niece Motorsports at Knoxville in 2022 with his victory in the Gateway Dirt Nationals last week.
