After making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut with G2G Racing at Martinsville Speedway one year ago, Kaden Honeycutt is set to attempt to qualify for his first event in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the same track.

On Tuesday, CHK Racing announced that the organization has tapped the Willow Park, Texas-native to pilot its No. 74 Chevrolet Camaro at the half-mile paperclip, as the team looks to make its second event of 2023.

“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to run for Mike Harmon and Gary Keller at Martinsville. It is one of the best tracks on the schedule and it is definitely one that we can really make something happen for sure,” said Honeycutt. “Just the thought of me running the Xfinity Series is a dream come true. Now, it is time to make it something special not only for me, but for Mike and Gary. Thank you to all my fans and supporters that have gotten me to this point. Can not wait for next weekend already.”

In his limited starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Honeycutt has posted some impressive results, scoring a pair of top-10 finishes in 13 career starts, including Saturday’s Weather Guard Truck Race on Dirt at Bristol, where he finished ninth for Roper Racing Team.

“We’re excited to give Kaden [Honeycutt] his first opportunity at an Xfinity start,” says Mike Harmon, co-owner of CHK Racing. “He’s done really well in Trucks, he deserved a chance in Xfinity, and we’re excited to do that for him. I’ve been watching Honeycutt for a while now and am glad to have him on board.”

The 19-year-old driver is scheduled to run double-duty at Martinsville Speedway this weekend, driving the No. 04 Ford F-150 for Roper Racing Team in the NASCAR Truck Series, alongside his opportunity with CHK Racing.

Should Honeycutt qualify for Saturday’s Call 811 Before You Dig 250 at Martinsville Speedway, it would mark the second start of the year for CHK Racing.

Dawson Cram was able to qualify the No. 74 into the show at Phoenix Raceway earlier this season, before a fuel pump issue forced the team to retire from the event after 99 of 200 laps.
