After sitting out at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Blaine Perkins is set to return to a familiar organization for Saturday’s Toyota Care 250 at Richmond Raceway, in the form of Our Motorsports.

Perkins, who mutually parted ways with SS Greenlight Racing ahead of the sixth NASCAR Xfinity Series event of the year, will take over the driving duties of the No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro at Richmond.

“We had an opening for our No. 02 at Richmond,” said Vic Reynolds, co-owner of Our Motorsports. “Blaine has been an important part of our team’s short history. He competed in the top-10 the entire race last fall at Martinsville and we want to give him the chance to do that again in Richmond.”

A native of Bakersfield, California, Perkins has made 13 total starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Our Motorsports, which have resulted in a single top-10 result, a career-best 10th at Martinsville Speedway last Fall.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity that Chris, Vic, and the men and women at Our are providing to me,” said Perkins. “They gave me my first break at the top level and the high points of my career so far have been with them. I want to build on that success this weekend.”

Also last season, Perkins competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on a full-time basis, driving the No. 9 for CR7 Motorsports. In his full-season effort, the 23-year-old scored a career-high 18th-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway.

This season, for the first time in his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, Perkins ventured away from the comfort of Our Motorsports, joining forces with SS Greenlight Racing for his first full-season deal in the second-tier series.

Throughout the opening five NASCAR Xfinity Series events of 2023, Perkins and SS Greenlight Racing struggled to get off on the right foot, scoring a single top-30 result in the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro at Atlanta.

Perkins will acquire the seat of the No. 02 Chevrolet Camaro from Kyle Weatherman, who took over the seat of the entry beginning in the middle of the ‘West Coast Swing’ at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and has since scored a pair of top-20 results.

Weatherman is competing for FRS Racing, a start-up Xfinity Series organization, in this weekend’s event at Richmond Raceway, but per a team release, will return to Our Motorsports at Martinsville Speedway.
