After a dismal start to the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, Blaine Perkins and SS Greenlight Racing have agreed to part ways, effective immediately, per a team statement released on Tuesday.

Perkins, who was scheduled to contest the full season in the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro, has put together a single top-30 result in the first five events of the year, which came last weekend in a wreck-filled event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Carson Hocevar, who competes on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Niece Motorsports, will attempt to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in Saturday’s Pit Boss Grills 250 at COTA, driving the No. 07.

Hocevar was originally scheduled to make his series debut with Spire Motorsports at Dover Motor Speedway, but instead will get his first experience behind the wheel of a NASCAR Xfinity Series entry at the 3.41-mile Austin, Texas road course.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with how the season has started, but after talking with Blaine and his group, we feel that it is in the best interest of all parties involved to mutually part ways, and work to build some momentum heading into the next few weeks,” said Bobby Dotter. “We are extremely grateful for Carson, Al (Niece), and everyone involved in this decision, helping us move swiftly as the 07 team prepares for this weekend.”

This weekend at Circuit of The Americas, SS Greenlight Racing will have a brand-new driver lineup, with Hocevar behind the wheel of the No. 07, and Aric Almirola driving the No. 08 Ford Mustang in Saturday’s event.
