Video: Harrison Burton’s Day Goes Up in Smoke With Engine Failure in Stage 2

Harrison Burton will not reprise his role from a season ago as Homestead-Miami Speedway race winner, as his motor expired towards the end of Stage 2 in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Contender Boats 250.

Burton had been running inside the top-five for virtually the entire race until the engine went poof on lap 60 of the 167 lap event, and a trail of smoke followed his No. 20 car.

Burton had scored top-10 finishes in each of the opening two NASCAR Xfinity Series races of 2021, and found himself second in the championship standings heading into Homestead. He’ll certainly take a points hit, but Burton showed last season, with a four-win campaign, that he can lock himself into the Playoffs on any given weekend.
