Video: Allgaier Wins After RCR Teammates Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed Get Into It

What. Did. We. Just. Witness?!?!

In one of the wildest finishes in recent NASCAR Xfinity Series memory, Justin Allgaier found victory lane to secure his place in the Championship 4 at Phoenix, but it’s how the driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro got to the lead that is the true story.

On an overtime finish restart, Richard Childress Racing teammates Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed controlled the front row of the race, and both drivers had yet to lock their place in the Championship 4. All of the marbles were on the line, and when they got to the finish, neither driver had any marbles left in their bags.

In Turns 1 and 2 on the final lap, Creed initiated contact with his teammate, to pull out to a narrow lead as the two drivers headed down the backstretch. Hill then slammed into the side of Creed, who then washed up into Hill in Turns 3 and 4, and when that happened, Hill ran smack into the back of Creed, which sent Hill spinning out of control, and a massive pileup ensued.

Here is the video of the wild finish to Saturday night’s race:

Following the race, nobody in the RCR camp was happy. As he climbed from his mangled No. 21 Chevrolet, Austin Hill taunted Creed as he felt he was wrecked by his teammate.

Andy Petree, the competition director at RCR, confronted Creed after the race on pit road, which led to Creed jabbing back, “If he touched me, you guys wouldn’t have said shit,” as Petree walked away in disgust.

It looked like Hill and Creed both had a chance to make it into the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship fight at Phoenix. But in the end, they both came up empty in a bitter late-race battle between teammates.
