iK9 Now Claiming That Jeffrey Earnhardt Bailed on Them, Not the Other Way Around

In the wake of the news that Jeffrey Earnhardt and his former sponsor iK9 have parted ways, many Earnhardt fans took to Twitter to share their displeasure for the company. iK9 heard the fans loud and clear and fired shots of their own claiming that it was Earnhardt who cancelled his contract, not the other way around.

The iK9 saga has been intriguing and confusing since July, when their decals were mysteriously missing from Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 18 team hauler, then even more mysteriously re-applied mid-weekend. That same weekend, a No. 81 car that was supposed to be fielded for Earnhardt through iK9’s parent company Xtreme Concepts was yanked from the entry list.

Earnhardt was scheduled to get behind the wheel of JGR’s No. 18 Xfinity Series ride again this weekend at Mid-Ohio but he has now been replaced with Jack Hawksworth.

In seven NASCAR Xfinity Series starts with JGR/Xtreme Concepts Racing this season, Earnhardt had a best finish of third at Charlotte and three top-10 finishes. His average finish was 13.7.

Jeffrey Earnhardt’s camp has declined to comment on the matter out of respect to their current and former partners.
