Duel 2

By Toby Christie

Through most of Speedweeks, we have seen the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers stay single file in the top lane for about 90-percent of the racing action. Will that trend continue in Sunday’s Daytona 500?

It appears that drivers are too afraid to pull out of the line because they are afraid the bottom lane will either not be as fast, or they will have no help and will get hung out to dry.

But if you aren’t willing to make moves — good or bad — how can you ever expect to move from the back half of the pack to the front?

One driver who will not just contently run in the single-file lane on Sunday is Chase Elliott. Elliott was asked the question about single-file racing following the Duels.
