The closing laps of Sunday’s Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma got some extra excitement thanks to Ryan Preece and Cody Ware.
Preece got spun in the esses running in the 26th position on Lap 86 and went off-track. It appeared that Matt DiBenedetto may have turned Preece.
A questionable decision by Preece saw him come back onto the racing surface and being slammed into by an oncoming No. 51 Camaro.
A lot happened to bring out the caution.

The contact resulted in Ware getting airborne briefly, before getting into Preece and going into a tire barrier.
A spotter for the 37 crew claimed that Preece was dumped, but it’s unclear if the comment was directed towards DiBenedetto or Ware.

Ware’s wreck resulted in his third DNF of the season. Preece was able to continue.
