For JD Motorsports w/ Gary Keller intern Michael Munley, his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut isn’t going to go the way he had hoped, after raising the funds to secure a ride in the No.6 Chevrolet Camaro at Watkins Glen International.
The 22-year-old had an early issue with his car, which prevented him from starting the event with the main pack, and was sitting half of a lap behind the race leader, when his entry broke looke in the carousel, sending his car into the tire barriers on the fifth lap of the event.

However, the accident didn’t mark the end of the race for Munley, as the debutant would return to the track three laps down, and get the opportunity to log more laps around the 2.45-mile road course.

I’m betting something was still not quite right with that car that made it harder fir Michael to conttol it. But awesome they were able to get it him back on the track and he got a ton of laps in!
forgive the phone keyboard induced typos ?
Happens to the best of us, Mike!
Yep, and I felt so bad for Michael…you could here it in his voice when he first called in to the crew chief. But kudos to him and his pit crew for hanging in there and getting a lot of laps in. He and his family and sponsors worked really hard to get him into this race…hope he gets another shot soon!
And by the way, thanks for giving him some coverage here and us some insight into his experience in the race.
