Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. came into this week optimistic about his chances for a good finish at Bristol Motor Speedway, after coming off a top-five finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

On Lap 299, Stenhouse was forced to check up after Matt Kenseth got loose off of Turn No. 2, causing Jimmie Johnson to make contact with the left-rear corner of Stenhouse’s No. 47 Kroger Chevrolet Camaro, sending him barreling into the inside wall.

Stenhouse would bounce off the inside wall coming back up the race track, collecting Kurt Busch, Tyler Reddick, Matt DiBenedetto, Ryan Preece, Cole Custer and Alex Bowman.

Stenhouse, Jr., Bowman and Custer would retire from the race before the end of stage 2, with Preece, Ku. Busch and DiBenedetto heading to pit road looking for repairs.

All drivers involved were able to walk away from the accident without injury.
