It’s been a historic season in the ARCA Menards Series for Joe GIbbs Racing and Ty Gibbs, one that continued with Thursday Night’s Bush’s Beans 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. The 18-year-old collected his 10th victory of the 2021 season, the first driver to collect double-digit victories since Frank Kimmel in 2002.

Gibbs started from the pole in Thursday Night’s event, once again showing no mercy to the remainder of the field, leading 192 of 200 laps. Sammy Smith, teammate to the eventual race winner, started on the outside of the front row, holding his position throughout the night to claim the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East championship.

The pair did a celebratory burnout on the frontstretch at Bristol Motor Speedway to signal their race victory and series championship, the first for Joe Gibbs Racing in an ARCA-sanctioned series.

The race featured a total of nine caution falgs, the most recent of which came from a hard impact for Thad Moffitt into the outside wall exiting turn two. The flat tire was caused by damage from an earlier incident with Drew Dollar, which saw the David Gilliland Racing machine spin exiting turn two.

Taylor Gray came home in third, with Nick Sanchez and Corey Heim rounding out the top-five. Rajah Caruth, Jesse Love, Drew Dollar, Parker Chase and Conner Jones rounded out the top-10. Kyle Sieg and Daniel Dye were the final two drivers to finish on the lead lap in 11th and 12th.

Sammy Smith was also able to capture the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East championship with a second-place result, finishing 34 points ahead of Daniel Dye in final standings. Rajah Caruth, Max Gutierrez and Joey Iest rounded out the top-five in points.
