The feel good story in Friday night’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Race at Texas Motor Speedway, looks like it will end there.
NASCAR has officially stated that Biffle is not eligible to run for the bonus money in Iowa, as his team did not have him on the Entry form by the cutoff date of June 4th. Biffle would be eligible to drive for the bonus $50,000 in Gateway as long as he is put on the entry form before the deadline for that particular race, but it eliminates him from the overall $500,000 bonus for winning all three of the events.
Kyle Busch could still field a truck for Biffle in the event in Iowa, but Biffle just wouldn’t be able to win the bonus money. However, with KBM already scheduled to have four trucks in the event, it would be hard to imagine dusting off a fifth truck for a driver ineligible to win the bonus cash.
Biffle collected his 17th-career NGOTS victory in what turned out to be a chaotic race at Texas Motor Speedway. 13 cautions in the 167 lap event made things interesting, but the cagey veteran, who started the night in sixth spot, led 18 laps on the night including the final 13 laps of the race.
It had been nearly 18 years since Biffle’s last win in the Truck Series, which came back in 2001. Biffle, 49, was the Truck Series champion in 2000.
