Dystany Spurlock, who has impressed in the ARCA Menards Series ranks, driving for MBM Motorsports, is set to make her debut start in the NASCAR National Series. Spurlock will compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Watkins Glen International, which will make her the first black woman to ever compete as a driver in a NASCAR National Series event.
Spurlock will pilot the No. 69 MBM Motorsports Toyota Tundra TRD Pro in the NASCAR Truck Series event on May 8, and she will carry primary sponsorship from Foxxtecca. In addition, Spurlock will compete in the ARCA Menards Series event at Watkins Glen that same day.
While Spurlock admits she hasn’t competed on a road course in some time, she’s excited for the opportunity and is ready to drink water from a firehose in her NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut.
“I’m excited for Watkins Glen,” Spurlock said. “It’s been a while since I’ve raced on a road course, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there. Having the opportunity to compete in ARCA and make my debut in the truck is going to be a lot of fun. I’m focused on learning as much as I can in both the car and the truck, and hopefully we can keep this top-10 momentum going!”
To date, the 34-year-old Spurlock has competed in two ARCA Menards Series East events and one ARCA Menards Series event.
Spurlock, who snagged a career-best seventh-place finish in her ARCA East debut at Hickory, has a 9.5 average finish in the ARCA East Series.
The Virginia native also finished 10th in her debut race in the ARCA Menards National Series, which came at Kansas Speedway a few weeks ago.
Spurlock took an unconventional path to stock car racing, as she cut her racing teeth on dragstrips, competing on two wheels. In 2024, Spurlock debuted in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle division, and just a couple of years later, she’s briskly climbing the ladder in stock cars.
The driver’s sponsor, Foxxtecca, is producing a docuseries, which will follow Spurlock throughout her 2026 season. The docuseries is titled Driven by Dystany: The Road to NASCAR.
Foxxtecca has been releasing the docuseries episodes on YouTube, and there are currently four episodes available to stream.
