Corey Heim, a 15-time race-winner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will be running double-duty this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, with Sunday marking his second opportunity of 2025 in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Though before his focus can shift to securing his first top-10 in the NASCAR Cup Series, the Marietta, Georgia-native is looking to continue his domination in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Already a four-time race-winner this season, Heim paced Friday’s 45-minute practice for the NASCAR Truck Series at the 1.33-mile racetrack in Lebanon, Tennessee, doing so (as usual) in commanding fashion.

With a lap time of 30.059 seconds (159.287mph), the 22-year-old driver topped the speed charts over defending NASCAR Truck Series champion Ty Majeski, pacing the field by nearly two tenths of a second. Heim was also quickest in the 5-lap and 10-lap averages.

“It’s all news to me as far as the averages and stuff,” said Heim. “Really good to come here and have speed, I feel like last year we certainly had some stuff to look back and improve on, still had a good showing, felt like we probably deserved to finish top-three, top-five last year, but with this group you wanna win every race.”

Heim turned a total of 44 laps around Nashville Superspeedway during the extended practice session on Friday, which was near the top of the list among the 32 drivers who are entered in Friday’s 200-mile contest.

Looking to bring an end to a difficult stretch of events, Ty Majeski put his No. 98 Curb Records Ford F-150 second on the speed charts, with Spire Motorsports’ Rajah Caruth sitting in third place.

Luke Fenhaus, a part-timer in the No. 66 for ThorSport Racing, was fourth in the session, with the Front Row Motorsports teammates Chandler Smith and Layne Riggs sitting fifth and sixth place.

Jake Garcia was seventh, with Andres Perez de Lara eighth, Gio Ruggiero ninth, and Daniel Hemric rounding out the top-10. In the No. 07 for Spire Motorsports, two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch was ranked 11th place in the session, after turning 42 laps.

There were no on-track incidents during the practice session, which saw all drivers make at least six laps around the Nashville Superspeedway. However, Stewart Friesen (ranked 14th in the session) did suffer some engine issues.

“I’ve broken enough motors in my day to know when one comes apart pretty good,” Friesen said to Josh Sims. “Lost a cylinder there, not sure what the cause of it was, but we’re just prepping to put our backup [engine] in, right now, and go from there.”

With qualifying rained out, due to inclement weather, Friesen will be starting from 13th, but with an engine change being done after practice, he will likely have to start at the back of the field when the race goes green.
