Conor Daly, a standout in the NTT IndyCar Series, will slide back behind the wheel of the No. 25 Kaulig Racing Ram 1500 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event next weekend at Phoenix Raceway. The team confirmed Daly’s return in a press release on Friday.
Daly, who last competed in the No. 25 Kaulig truck at Kansas Speedway a couple of weeks ago, finished 16th in that race, which equated to his career-best finish in eight starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The 34-year-old racer is thankful for the opportunity to return to the Ram Truck, and he feels like he is getting more acclimated to the NASCAR Truck Series.
“I started to feel a lot more comfortable in the truck as the race went on,” said Daly of the race at Kansas Speedway. “We didn’t get to practice or qualify in Kansas, but we worked on it all race and finally got the truck dialed in for that last green-flag run, and I felt the most comfortable I have ever felt. Driving a truck is a lot of fun when you have it dialed in. I’m honored Ram and Kaulig have asked me to drive the No. 25 and appreciate the opportunity. ”
In addition to Daly, Kaulig Racing has featured a wide-range of big-name “free agents” behind the wheel of its No. 25 entry this season. Among the other drivers, who have competed in the truck include Tony Stewart, who ran at Daytona and will run again at Talladega this month, Ty Dillon, Ryan Newman, Elliott Sadler, Jamie McMurray, Colin Braun, Corey LaJoie, Travis Pastrana, Parker Kligerman, Clint Bowyer, AJ Allmendinger, Regan Smith and Carson Ferguson.
Daly, who has two podium finishes in IndyCar competition over a 133-race career, will look to register his first career NASCAR National Series top-10 finish at the 1-mile Phoenix Raceway next weekend.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Phoenix Raceway is currently set for Friday, October 16, and will be televised on FS1 with coverage set to kickoff at 7:30 PM ET.
