The Stewart-Haas Racing team will be racing with heavy hearts in Michigan International Speedway this weekend, as one of their own — Shawn Soules passed away on Tuesday night. According to motorcyclelawyernorthcarolina.com, Soules was riding his motorcycle near Statesville, NC when he was struck by a BMW that failed to yield to the motorcycle.
Soules was just 47 years old.
Rodney Childers eluded to the tragic news early Wednesday morning on Twitter:
We lost a good one last night. 10 years of working together you become family. Please keep everyone @StewartHaasRcng in your thoughts and prayers. ????

While SHR fabricator Brian Murphy tweeted a decal that SHR cars will run this weekend in honor of Soules.
As we head to @MISpeedway, we do so with heavy hearts. @StewartHaasRcng & the racing community lost a member of the family yesterday. Shawn was an incredible teammate and will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all his friends & family in these toughest of times. pic.twitter.com/prruqnPDab

The SHR team is without a win so far in the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, but if one of their four cars can get it done on Sunday, it would be a very emotional victory.
